Why Insure Your
Pet?
You love your pet and do not want to think
about him becoming ill or involved in an
accident.
Pet Insurance provides the peace of mind
that comes from knowing that you will not have to make a
decision on your pet's life based on how affordable the
treatment or surgery will be.
I once
had a beloved 12 year old Rottweiler, our family dog since my
daughter was 6. He became ill with a cancer that my
family vet said would require $5,000 of treatments and
surgeries. I would have loved not to have had to make the
difficult decision I had to make.
But if you're the type of person who would
do anything to save your pet, including spend thousands of
dollars on medical care,
Pet Insurance might be preferable to going into
debt.

Vets today can offer treatments that
were unheard of just a few years ago, and at prices may require
you to sit down.
Treatments, from radiation therapy to
kidney transplants, are now available for pets. Once fatal
conditions are now treatable at costs ranging from $1,000 to
more than $5,000.
Vets have access to increasingly
sophisticated and costly diagnostic tools, such as MRIs. These
screenings increase the cost of treatment, but they uncover
conditions that historically would have gone untreated.
Pet Insurance needs to
be shopped as we would our own healthcare
coverage.
-
The policies do have deductibles, co-pays and caps
that limit how much will be paid out annually.
-
Pre-existing problems and hereditary
conditions, such as hip dysplasia in retrievers and
German Shepherds, can be excluded. However, one
insurer,
Embrace Pet Insurance, covers hereditary and
chronic conditions.
-
The older your animal, the higher the
premiums. Some insurers don't cover pets older than
9, or have high surcharges.

But MOST of all,
LOVE your
pet
Insurance is icing
on the cake.
